Why this exists

Modern business software has gradually become a category of extraction. Your CRM rents you back access to data you typed in. Your project tracker bills you per seat per month, forever, for the privilege of typing more. Your AI tools ship your customer communications to a third-party cloud and bill you per token — with no ceiling — to do work you could in principle do yourself. None of these arrangements were inevitable. They became normal because they happened to be more profitable than the alternative.

We think the alternative is worth building. The tools we want to use ourselves are local-first, one-time purchase, offline-capable, and respectful of the working professional's attention. Nobody else was building a CRM that fits that description, so we built one.

The thesis is simple. Your business already lives in your email, calendar, files, and bank. You should not have to type any of that into a CRM. An AI observer can watch those sources — locally or with a redacted cloud call when you choose — and propose what it sees. You review. You accept. Nothing happens that you did not approve.

Why this is built by a small team

Vrge is engineered to be operable by a small team. That is a design constraint, not a limitation. A 50-person SaaS competitor cannot credibly match what we offer — local-first, offline-capable, self-hostable, data-portable, no telemetry — because their business model depends on the opposite. The product's commitments to you are protected by the company's shape.

We have no investors pushing for a SaaS conversion. No headcount pushing for telemetry to justify itself. No advertising business that requires your attention as inventory. We are funded by the people who buy the software, and that is the only incentive we answer to.

Principles we hold

These are not aspirations. They are tested against every product decision. If a feature would violate one, the feature is wrong even if the code compiles.

• The user's attention is sacred.

  Every proposal in the inbox must be worth ten seconds. We'd rather show you nothing than show you noise.

• Silence is success.

  The best day with the observer is one where five high-quality proposals are waiting. Not fifty. More accepted, not more proposed.

• Never surprise the user.

  No auto-writes to the real database. No 'we took care of this for you.' Every change is something you explicitly accepted.

• Trust is earned in drops and lost in buckets.

  One hallucinated client destroys months of goodwill. We'd rather miss a real one than fabricate a fake one.

• The app works with zero integrations.

  Every source has a manual fallback. Vrge is fully usable on day one without connecting anything.

• Local-first, cloud-optional.

  Your data stays on your machine unless you choose otherwise. Ollama is a first-class citizen, not a curiosity.

• You own your data, always.

  One-click export to portable JSON/CSV — entities, proposals, AI history, origin records. Even with an expired license.

• Offline is a feature, not a degradation.

  On a plane, in a coffee shop with bad wifi, on an airgapped laptop — all core CRUD works.

• No dark patterns, ever.

  No hidden upsell modals, no manufactured urgency, no growth hacks that treat you as a conversion metric. We sell tools to working professionals.

What we do not do

Vrge asks you to let an AI watch your email, calendar, files, and bank accounts. That is an extraordinary ask. We honour it with commitments encoded as engineering, not marketing.

• We do not send email, modify calendars, move files, or touch bank accounts. Source connections are read-only.
• We do not train any AI on customer email, file, or business data. Inference-only, when you explicitly authorise it.
• We do not sell, broker, or share your data. Revenue comes exclusively from license purchases and optional add-ons.
• We do not run advertising, tracking pixels, or third-party fingerprinting on this site. Analytics are aggregate and cookieless.
• We do not lock data in. One-click portable export of everything, even with an expired license.
