Ask tells the truth about overdue invoices

  Asking “what’s overdue?” could answer $0 while invoices sat weeks past due, because the answer waited on a flag the invoices page sets. A sent invoice past its due date now counts the moment you ask. The date in the answer is also the one on the invoice, in every timezone. West of Greenwich it could read a day early.

  Pausing AI while a scan was already running let it carry on to the next source: address books, mailboxes, calendars, bank feeds alike. It now stops before the next source, and the sources it did not reach are left exactly as they were rather than marked as freshly synced.

  If the AI stopped partway through a source (you paused it, a budget ran out, Ollama went away), the rest of that source’s emails or transactions were marked as read without ever being looked at, and the next scan started after them. That source is now re-read from where the AI stopped.

  Tasks created from a project template were recorded as typed in by hand. Their history now says they came from the template, and names it. Projects made from a template say so too; “Custom (Empty)” counts as typed in.

  On a team, a client imported from CSV carried two contradicting history notes: one saying it was imported, one saying it was typed in. It carries one.

  Vrge would install on macOS 10.13 through 10.15 and then fail to open. The installer now says it needs macOS 11 or later, which is what it has always needed.

Pausing AI now pauses everything

  Pausing AI stopped the scan, but connected address books still synced in the background. No AI ran and nothing was sent anywhere, but paused should mean nothing is read at all, and now it does.

  The “What gets sent” preview described a locally-written summary even when Ollama was not running, in which case what actually leaves is the shorter version with names, emails, amounts and account numbers replaced. The preview now checks whether Ollama is running, shows what will really be sent, and says why.

  Records Vrge proposed also carried a second history note claiming they had been typed in by hand. It was never shown (the app picked the right one), but it travelled into exported data, where it contradicted the truth. Every record now carries exactly one.

  History notes read “added by hand” rather than “added by you”, and a record accepted by a colleague no longer says you accepted it.

  On a team, records typed in by hand carried no history at all, so “Where did this come from?” had nothing to show for them. They now record who created them and when, the same way records Vrge proposes always have.

  On a team, a comment was stored under whatever name the app sent with it rather than the signed-in account.

Bank connections need a licence

  A bank-connection link could be created through Vrge’s relay without a licence. Creating a new bank connection now requires an active licence; connections you already have are unaffected.

  The one-click Plaid connect during the trial. Connect a bank with your own Plaid credentials or import a statement instead; it returns the moment you activate a licence.

Where your data goes, said exactly

  The bank and accounting connect screens now say exactly where each kind of data travels: which reads pass through our relay because the provider requires it, and which go straight from your machine to the provider.

Windows fixes, and a consent bug

  Updating from 1.0 could switch off your cloud AI provider, leaving the Inbox empty.

Vrge 1.0

The first public release. Vrge watches the tools you already use and proposes the CRM entries that follow. You approve, it files.

  Connect the tools you already use: Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook and Microsoft 365, IMAP mail, Stripe, Square, Plaid bank feeds, QuickBooks, bank-statement CSVs and local folders. Vrge proposes the clients, projects, tasks, invoices and expenses it finds, and nothing is saved until you approve it in the Inbox.

  Calendars connect by link, too: paste an .ics or webcal address (Google Calendar’s secret address, an iCloud public calendar, any published .ics) and its meetings join the same review queue. iCloud, Fastmail and Nextcloud calendars connect over CalDAV, and you tick which calendars Vrge watches, then change the pick later without re-entering the password.

  Every proposal shows its evidence: the email, event or transaction it came from, what was read out of it, and how confident Vrge is. Accept it, edit it first, or dismiss it. Any accept can be undone within 24 hours.

  Open Loops is one page of who owes whom the next move: replies you owe, replies you are waiting on, invoices past due. No AI guessing; a loop closes itself the moment reality changes.

  Ask your business in plain English from ⌘K: “who owes me money”, “what did Acme pay this year”. Every answer is computed from your own records and shows the rows behind it. Totals stay in their own currency, so a euro invoice beside a dollar one shows both, never a made-up sum.

  Reports you can hand to someone: project health, utilization, profitability by client and project, revenue, a per-client status report, and a Tax Pack with the Schedule C breakdown. Each one saves as a clean, properly margined PDF. Invoices save as PDF too, and the Tax Pack and Expenses pages export CSVs your accountant can open as-is.

  Your data stays on your Mac, in an encrypted local database, and everything works offline. Export all of it (your records and everything Vrge learned reviewing them) to JSON or CSV at any time, including after a licence has expired. The CSVs open cleanly in Excel and Numbers, with columns in a sensible order and the client and project names beside their ids, so an accountant never has to look up a UUID.

  AI on your terms: run Ollama locally so nothing leaves your machine, bring your own API key, or subscribe to Vrge Managed AI with a hard monthly cap and no overage billing, ever. The “What gets sent” preview shows a sample of what the mode in force would send (strict shows where it is cut; summary shows the local-summary note and the strict text sent when Ollama is off) and lists any source set to send differently. Settings → Sources shows each source the same way, marked Local when no cloud provider is set up to take over.

  Team mode: a self-hosted server you control, invite your teammates, realtime sync between them, and a browser client for anyone not on a Mac. The White-Label Portal add-on puts your own brand on the client portals your team shares.

  One download for every Mac running macOS 12 (Monterey) or later, Apple Silicon or Intel, and an installer for Windows 10 or later. Signed and notarized by Apple on the Mac; Windows is not yet signed, so its installer shows a SmartScreen warning once. Updates install themselves on both.

  Encrypted backups to any folder you choose, free. Vrge Cloud Backup keeps an off-machine copy that only your recovery code can open, as an optional subscription. Deleting a stored backup asks first, and names the one it is about.
