An offline CRM, on your own machine
Vrge is a desktop app with a SQLite database on your disk, so the CRM works with no connection at all. Anything that reaches the outside world, such as fetching new email, cloud AI or a hosted backup, waits until you are back online and then catches up.

What works with the wifi off
- Every record
- Clients, projects, tasks, deliverables, notes, invoices, time entries. Create, edit and delete against the SQLite file on your disk. No server is consulted, because there is none.
- The Inbox
- Proposals Vrge has already found sit in the Inbox. Approving one writes the records in a single local transaction. No network.
- Undo
- Reverting an approval within 24 hours is a local transaction too.
- Local sources
- A watched folder and a CSV bank statement need no connection to read, and neither goes through a model. That loop, from reading to proposing to approving, runs with the wifi off.
- Local AI
- Ollama runs on your machine and answers on localhost by default. Pointed there, extraction sends nothing off your machine, connected or not.
- Open Loops
- Replies owed, replies awaited and invoices past due are computed from what Vrge has already observed. They recompute locally and close themselves when the underlying facts change.
- Export
- JSON and CSV export works offline, and with an expired licence.
What waits for a connection
- Fetching anything newNew email, calendar events and bank transactions live on other people’s servers. Offline, a run fetches nothing. It also records nothing against your sources, so a flight does not mark Gmail as broken.
- Cloud AIAnthropic, OpenAI, Google and Managed AI need a connection. If the provider you chose cannot be reached, Vrge tries the others you have set up, Ollama included. If none answers, the run is logged as an AI failure, not as a broken source, and shows in the activity log.
- Cloud Backup uploadThe hosted copy uploads to our storage, so it waits. Scheduled backups to a folder on your disk do not.
- Team modeA Team licence keeps records on a server you host, and each seat talks to it. Offline, a teammate’s approve fails rather than queueing. “Works offline” is a promise about the solo desktop app.
- Activating a licence keyActivating needs a connection: the key is checked with Lemon Squeezy, not with us. Each launch re-checks quietly in the background; offline, the app trusts the stored licence and keeps working.
When you reconnect
The app listens for the operating system to report connectivity back. When it does, the observer runs a catch-up pass rather than waiting for its next scheduled tick, so the Inbox catches up soon after you land. A minimum spacing between runs stops a flapping connection from hammering your sources.
Every trigger passes the same gates: the AI pause switch, the token budget, and a check that no run is already in flight. Nothing about being offline changes what gets written. That is still only what you approve.
