Getting Started
Vrge has two ways to access it. Most people start with the desktop app— download once, install like any other app, open and go. For teams, there's also a browser client: employees open Vrge in Chrome or Safari instead of installing anything, and it connects to the team server your admin runs. Either way, setup takes about 5 minutes.
Two ways to use Vrge
- Desktop app (solo founders, freelancers, and team admins) — runs on your own machine, stores data locally on an encrypted SQLite file, works fully offline. This is the standard path if you're one person, or the first person on a team setting up the server.
- Browser client (team members) — once your admin has deployed the Team server (self-hosted Docker; see Team Mode), invited team members open Vrge at your company's URL (e.g.
vrge.your-agency.com) in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox. No install, no app-store download. Realtime sync over WebSockets so everyone sees the same pipeline, tasks, and deliverables instantly. Works on phones at 375px+.
What you'll need
- Desktop app:a Mac running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or newer, or a Windows 10/11 PC. About 250 MB of free disk space. Internet for the download only — the app works offline after install.
- Browser client:any modern browser + your team's server URL from your admin (sent in the invite email). No install, no downloads, works on mobile.
- No account, no sign-up, no credit card to get started
Step 1 — Download
- 1.Go to getvrge.com/download.
- 2.Click the button for your computer — Mac or Windows. The page auto-detects which one you're on.
- 3.The installer downloads to your Downloadsfolder. On Mac it's a file ending in
.dmg; on Windows it's a file ending in.exe.
Step 2 — Install
On Mac
- 1.Double-click the
.dmgfile you downloaded. A window opens showing the Vrge app icon and an Applications folder. - 2.Drag the Vrge icon onto the Applications folder. That's it — it's installed.
- 3.The first time you open Vrge, macOS may warn you that it's from an unidentified developer. If that happens, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom, and click Open Anyway next to the Vrge warning. This only happens once.
On Windows
- 1.Double-click the
.exefile you downloaded. - 2.If Windows shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen, click More info, then Run anyway. This only happens the first time.
- 3.Follow the installer prompts — the defaults are fine. Vrge adds a shortcut to your Start menu.
Step 3 — Open Vrge for the first time
When you launch Vrge, a short welcome flow walks you through three things:
- 1.Pick an AI provider. You can use a free local option (Ollama), bring your own key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google), subscribe to Managed AI, or skip this step and add it later. See Choosing Your AI Provider.
- 2.Connect your first source. Usually email. See Connecting Sources for the Gmail walkthrough (personal or Workspace).
- 3.See your first proposals. Vrge scans the last 7 days and shows you the highest-confidence findings in the Inbox within about a minute.
You can skip any step and come back to it later from Settings. Nothing is permanent on first-run.
